About Me
As a child, I long knew that movement was not only cathartic, but informative and critical to feeling 'alive'. This belief has fuelled my integration of Psychology and Dance to pursue Dance Movement Therapy and various forms of movement e.g. dance and partnering, to understand the mind-body connection that can help us gain more clarity and empowerment, ultimately, build better relationships with ourselves and others.
My early association with Dance Movement Therapy fuelled my education path to complete my degree in Psychology at the National University of Singapore, and a further diploma in Dance Therapy from New Zealand Dance Therapy. I served 4 years as a child protection officer in the Ministry of Social and Family Development and today, I am a certified Dance Therapist, certified Acroyoga Instructor, dance teacher and business consultant with Deloitte Consulting.
I have been working with organisations and various dance therapists to provide Dance Therapy-inspired movement programmes to troubled youths since 2012. I then joined Movemental in 2021 to deliver dance therapy programmes and therapeutic dance to multiple populations, including groups with mental disorders in step-down care, senior activity centres and teens with mental health histories in schools and drop-in centres.
Informed by my humbling experiences at the Child Protective Services, today, I observe trauma-informed means of interacting with clients and actively strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to support inclusive healing and wellness.
